Lovedoll Toy Factory
Horror indie games have been popping up everywhere lately, but every now and then one shows up that actually feels a little different. Lovedoll Toy Factory definitely gave me that vibe after watching a bunch of gameplay clips and trying the current demo build myself.
At first I expected another basic "sit in office and survive jump scares" type game. Turns out it's way stranger than that. The whole abandoned toy factory setting has this awkward mix of creepy and oddly goofy energy that somehow works. One second you're laughing at a weird plush mascot design, then five minutes later you're panicking because something is moving in the hallway audio feed.
Not gonna lie, the atmosphere got under my skin faster than I expected.
And yeah, it's still a demo right now. There's no full story campaign yet, but the Custom Night mode already has enough chaos to keep horror fans busy for a while.
Storyline & Gameplay
The setup is simple, but honestly that's part of why it works.
Your character takes a factory job because they're drowning in debt and need money fast. Pretty relatable horror game decision-making already. Of course, the place turns out to be completely cursed in the worst possible way.
Inside the factory, these oversized plush mascots wander around like they own the building. They're not cute. They're not friendly. And they definitely don't respect personal space.
Gameplay follows that classic security-monitor survival formula people know from Five Nights at Freddy's, but it doesn't feel like a straight copy. You're constantly checking cameras, reacting to movement, learning enemy patterns, and trying not to waste resources too early.
That's where things get interesting.
Some enemies behave aggressively right away while others slowly pressure you into mistakes. A few encounters actually caught me off guard because the timing felt intentionally awkward. In a weird way, that unpredictability makes the game more tense than polished AAA horror titles.
The Custom Night mode is probably the biggest reason people keep replaying it right now. You can tweak AI difficulty settings and basically create your own nightmare setup. I actually replayed a few rounds just to test different combinations and see how unfair things could get.
Turns out… very unfair.
But in a fun way.

🎮 Custom Night Chaos
This is basically the heart of the current build. You can adjust enemy difficulty and experiment with different setups, which keeps matches from feeling repetitive.
Some combinations feel almost impossible after midnight. Honestly, that's part of the appeal.
🧸 Plush Mascots That Feel Genuinely Uncomfortable
A lot of mascot horror games try too hard to look disturbing. Here, the plush characters are creepy because they feel oddly lifeless at first. Then they suddenly aren't.
One of them just silently staring into the camera feed was somehow worse than a loud jumpscare.
🏭 Stylized Factory Setting
The toy factory itself has personality. Dark hallways, weird props, oversized decorations, flickering rooms… it feels like a place with its own history instead of just random horror assets pasted together.
What surprised me most was how much the sound design carries the tension. Sometimes the silence is worse than the actual attacks.
📖 Upcoming Story Mode
The developers are apparently planning a full six-night campaign later on, with more lore and expanded mechanics. Right now you mostly get hints about the bigger mystery behind the factory.
Honestly, the mystery is half the reason I'm still interested.
Updated Menus and Visual Improvements
Version 0.5.0 cleaned up a lot visually. Menus look smoother, animations feel less rough, and some jumpscares got reworked completely.
You can tell the project is slowly evolving instead of being abandoned after release like some indie horror demos.

Final Verdict
I didn't expect to care much about this one at first, but it ended up sticking in my head longer than most indie horror demos do.
Lovedoll Toy Factory feels messy in places, sure, but that rough indie energy actually helps the atmosphere. The creepy plush enemies, tense camera management, strange humor, and mysterious factory setting all blend together surprisingly well.
If you're into survival horror games that feel a little weird, a little chaotic, and occasionally unfair in the best way possible, this is probably worth checking out.
Especially if you miss that old-school "figure things out through trial and panic" horror feeling.
